Hi all,
I'm using the Simplenotes sync options with a company proxy server.
During Sync all new notes created on 2 other PCs with direct internet connection are downloaded,
but notes created ob the pc using the proxy are not uploaded and the sync gives an errormessage:
"Synchronization not complete, please retry later".
So this is probably to do with the proxy, but as I can receive new notes the proxy settings seem to be correct.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Fred

Re: Synchonization only download notes when using proxy
Hi Fred, thanks for your message!
Could you please collect and send to me a debug log of a failed sync attempt?
1) Run CintaNotes and activate "Help/Debug/Debug Logging"
2) Try to repeat the problem
3) This will produce the file named "log.N.txt" (either in CN folder,
or in %APPDATA%\CintaNotes), where N is a number - please send the latest
file (it will be the one with the max N) to support@cintanotes.com
Please note that this file may contain some of your private data, such as tag
names (but of course no passwords). You may want to review the file and remove this data
first.
Hope this is not too much to ask, thank you!

Hi Fred,
Thanks a lot for the log file.
Actually it contains a very readable error message from your proxy server:
I guess the server settings don't allow uploading files to a WebDAV server that CN uses for storing attachments.

Access Denied (content_filter_denied)
Your request was denied because of its content categorization: "File Storage/Sharing"

Re: Synchonization only download notes when using proxy
Hi again,
I didn't realize that a different server is used for upload and for download.
I guess there is nothing that can be done here apart from changing the proxy server's rules or looking into tunnelling through the proxy...
Thanks for your effort !
Cheers,
Fred

A different server is used for attachments.
I suspect that since WebDAV uses HTTP, your proxy can't really differentiate between CN downloading attachments and a regular file download.
However uploading uses a different HTTP command, probably your proxy detects it and refuses to comply.
