I mean, last version (3.14) was released more than 2 years ago...

Hi Oded,
Well, its alive but its fair to say that it's struggling.
I am no more able to work on it full time and it shows. I'm sorry for that. I'm still working on it part time, so its slow.
The new version is a big overhaul and I can't release it till it at least matches the old verison feature-wise, and to save time and effort no further development on the old 3.x version is made (although I'm still doing tech support).
Should you decide that its too much risk and migrate your notes somewhere else - well I respect that, and you can do it using XML or Simplenote at any time.
P.S. Happy holidays everyone! I wish for all to have a great new year.

I was wondering about that, too.
Hi Alex,
glad to see it still is and that you at least still have it on the radar.
We discussed this before, but is there anything that we, the CintaNotes community, can do to help with the development?
Still looking forward to the new version

Thanks for chiming in, Bumpyride!
Well in a couple of months I hope to be able to prepare a v4.0 pre-alpha version, and it would be great to collect some early feedback from the community here.
Some parts of functionality might be missing from it, but still any reports if everything is working would be invaluable!

Well, that sounds like really good news! Looking forward to the pre-Alpha then. Looks like 2026 will be a good year, after all

Will do my best, but let's not get our hopes too high) "couple of months" might be an understatement

No worries, Alex! Long-time hardened CNers know what it means when you say "couple of months"

Probably out in left field... but a Linux edition would be appreciated.
In the meantime... will have to try and see if 3.14 can work with Bottles.

Have tried Bottles...
CN installed and registered well, but that's as far as it went.
Error message about missing runtime stopped it from doing anything more.
Wine installed it, but same error message popped up in the end.
Will i go back to Windows ?
Trying to get away from Micro$oft strangle hold.

Also, if there were one recommendation to make...
Would suggest adding StandardNotes as sync option.
More private, secure and also offers data backup to your email of choice.
Even on its basic free level!

Hi Danielson,
Yes, Linux version is definitely on the radar - actually that was the main reason for migration to Qt.
However, the Windows version with feature parity is planned to come first.

That is just fine by me Alex.
The request to add another sync option such as StandardNotes came for more than one reason.
Had an issue with SimpleNotes a while back...
For some reason, after many years of solid backup with this free service, lost all data online.
Tried contacting them, but by the time they responded... was simply fed up and went to StandardNotes praised by Protonmail.
It offers an option (among others) to backup data to email.
So, no more worries about having a reliable "b" plan for backup-ing data.
